Fashion or Fine Jewelry?

You’ve probably heard the terms “fine jewelry” and “fashion jewelry” before, but is there difference between them? Let's clarify these terms.

Firstly, fine jewelry is part of “fashion”.  Here’s a simple guide to the differences between these two types of jewelry (and this is why fine jewelry wins the contest every time)!

When we talk about “fine jewelry”we refer to any jewelry that is made from precious metals such as gold, silver, or platinum. Fine jewelry typically uses genuine gemstones like diamonds, sapphires, rubies, or emerald. Fine jewelry is durable and made to last.

Contrastly, the term “fashion jewelry” refers to any jewelry that is not made from precious metals. Fashion jewelry is sometimes called "costume jewelry," and is often made from base metals, such as brass, copper, or aluminum. Fashion jewelry can also be made with textiles or leather. If a piece of fashion jewelry is made with a gemstone, it is almost always simulated, which means the “gemstone” might be plastic, glass, or crystal etc.

When buying fine jewelry, we often see the price tag and question if it's worth the substantial upfront costs. But the answer is yes - it's definitely worth it!  Fine Jewelry is lasting  and can be worn many times without the re-wear fear.
